Research Integrity, Open Science and Open Scholarship Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>7.1 Purpose<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rupkatha Books actively supports the principles of <strong>Open Science<\/strong>, <strong>Open Scholarship<\/strong>, and <strong>FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) knowledge<\/strong>, while recognising the diverse research traditions of the humanities, social sciences, and interdisciplinary fields.<\/p>\n<p>This policy should be read together with the Publication Ethics Policy, Open Access Policy, Authorship Policy, Metadata Policy, Digital Preservation Policy, and other related publisher policies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.2 Guiding Principles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All participants in the publication process are expected to uphold the following principles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>academic integrity;<\/li>\n<li>honesty and transparency;<\/li>\n<li>methodological rigour;<\/li>\n<li>accountability;<\/li>\n<li>openness where appropriate;<\/li>\n<li>respect for intellectual property;<\/li>\n<li>responsible stewardship of research outputs;<\/li>\n<li>ethical collaboration;<\/li>\n<li>reproducibility where applicable; and<\/li>\n<li>public responsibility in the communication of knowledge.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These principles apply equally to authors, editors, reviewers, translators, contributors, and publishing partners.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.3 Responsible Research<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Authors are expected to ensure that published research is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>original;<\/li>\n<li>accurately reported;<\/li>\n<li>supported by appropriate evidence;<\/li>\n<li>ethically conducted;<\/li>\n<li>honestly interpreted; and<\/li>\n<li>properly documented.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Research shall not involve fabrication, falsification, deceptive reporting, selective omission of evidence, manipulation of data, or any practice that compromises scholarly integrity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.4 Transparency and Reproducibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Authors should describe their research with sufficient clarity to enable informed scholarly evaluation.<\/p>\n<p>Where appropriate, publications should include information relating to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>research objectives;<\/li>\n<li>theoretical framework;<\/li>\n<li>methodology;<\/li>\n<li>analytical procedures;<\/li>\n<li>primary sources or datasets;<\/li>\n<li>limitations of the study; and<\/li>\n<li>interpretation of findings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The degree of methodological transparency may vary across disciplines, particularly within the humanities and creative scholarship, where interpretative approaches form an integral part of research.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.5 Open Science and Open Scholarship<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rupkatha Books actively promotes Open Scholarship as a means of strengthening collaboration, transparency, accessibility, and the long-term value of research.<\/p>\n<p>Where appropriate and ethically permissible, authors are encouraged to make available:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>research data;<\/li>\n<li>datasets;<\/li>\n<li>software and source code;<\/li>\n<li>digital collections;<\/li>\n<li>multimedia resources;<\/li>\n<li>supplementary materials;<\/li>\n<li>teaching resources;<\/li>\n<li>research instruments;<\/li>\n<li>bibliographies; and<\/li>\n<li>appendices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The publisher recognises that complete openness is not always appropriate owing to legal, ethical, contractual, cultural, privacy, security, or intellectual property considerations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.6 Research Data and Supporting Materials<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Where supporting materials exist, authors are encouraged to provide a <strong>Data Availability Statement<\/strong> indicating:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>whether supporting materials are available;<\/li>\n<li>the repository in which they are deposited;<\/li>\n<li>relevant persistent identifiers, including DOIs where available;<\/li>\n<li>licensing conditions; and<\/li>\n<li>any justified restrictions on access.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Where no supporting materials exist, authors may state that no associated research data are available.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.7 Digital Scholarship<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rupkatha Books welcomes scholarship that incorporates digital methodologies, computational analysis, digital archives, multimedia scholarship, interactive resources, and emerging forms of knowledge production.<\/p>\n<p>Authors are encouraged to document digital methods sufficiently to support scholarly understanding, long-term preservation, responsible reuse, and future interoperability.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.8 Citation Integrity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>References should accurately represent the scholarly record.<\/p>\n<p>Authors shall avoid:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>fabricated or inaccurate references;<\/li>\n<li>citation manipulation;<\/li>\n<li>excessive self-citation;<\/li>\n<li>citation cartels;<\/li>\n<li>irrelevant references intended solely to influence citation metrics; and<\/li>\n<li>misleading attribution of ideas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Every citation should make a genuine scholarly contribution to the publication.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.9 Artificial Intelligence and Research Integrity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Artificial Intelligence and related technologies may assist research and scholarly writing, provided they are used responsibly and transparently.<\/p>\n<p>Authors remain fully responsible for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the accuracy of all published content;<\/li>\n<li>verification of AI-assisted outputs;<\/li>\n<li>disclosure of significant AI use;<\/li>\n<li>compliance with copyright and ethical requirements; and<\/li>\n<li>ensuring meaningful human oversight throughout the research process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>AI systems cannot qualify as authors or assume responsibility for scholarly work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.10 Ethical Research Practices<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Research involving human participants, Indigenous knowledge, traditional cultural expressions, community knowledge, personal information, sensitive archives, cultural heritage, or vulnerable populations must comply with applicable ethical, legal, institutional, and community requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Authors should respect cultural protocols, community rights, and principles of equitable knowledge exchange throughout the research process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.11 Funding and Conflicts of Interest<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Authors should disclose all relevant:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>research grants;<\/li>\n<li>institutional support;<\/li>\n<li>publication funding;<\/li>\n<li>sponsorship;<\/li>\n<li>collaborative research arrangements;
