Self-Archiving Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>13.1 Purpose<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rupkatha Books is committed to the widest possible dissemination, discoverability, interoperability, and long-term preservation of scholarly knowledge. As a born-digital Universal Open Access publisher, we actively encourage authors to archive and share their publications through trusted scholarly repositories and research infrastructures.<\/p>\n<p>Self-archiving is a fundamental component of Open Scholarship. It increases the visibility, accessibility, citation, and long-term impact of research while strengthening the global scholarly record.<\/p>\n<p>This policy should be read together with the <strong>Open Access Policy<\/strong>, <strong>Copyright and Licensing Policy<\/strong>, <strong>Digital Preservation Policy<\/strong>, <strong>Metadata Policy<\/strong>, and other relevant publisher policies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13.2 Scope<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This policy applies to all publications issued by Rupkatha Books, including monographs, edited volumes, translations, critical editions, conference proceedings, Open Educational Resources (OER), digital scholarship, and other born-digital publications.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13.3 Versions of a Publication<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the purposes of scholarly communication, Rupkatha Books recognises the following versions of a publication:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preprint<\/strong><br \/>\nThe manuscript before formal editorial assessment or peer review.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Accepted Manuscript (Postprint)<\/strong><br \/>\nThe version accepted following peer review but before copy-editing, typesetting, metadata enhancement, and final publication.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Version of Record (VoR)<\/strong><br \/>\nThe definitive published edition issued by Rupkatha Books, incorporating the official DOI, ISBN, metadata, licensing information, and complete publication record.<\/p>\n<p>Where differences exist between versions, the Version of Record shall remain the authoritative scholarly version.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13.4 Preprints<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Unless restricted by prior contractual obligations, authors are encouraged to share preprints through recognised scholarly platforms, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>institutional repositories;<\/li>\n<li>disciplinary repositories;<\/li>\n<li>trusted preprint servers;<\/li>\n<li>personal academic websites; and<\/li>\n<li>research group websites.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once the Version of Record has been published, authors should update preprint records by adding the complete bibliographic citation, DOI, and a link to the official publication.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13.5 Accepted Manuscripts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Authors may deposit accepted manuscripts immediately in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>institutional repositories;<\/li>\n<li>disciplinary repositories;<\/li>\n<li>funder repositories;<\/li>\n<li>ORCID records;<\/li>\n<li>personal academic websites; and<\/li>\n<li>other recognised scholarly communication platforms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Deposited manuscripts should, wherever possible, include the official citation and DOI directing readers to the Version of Record.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13.6 Version of Record<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As all Rupkatha Books publications are released under Universal Open Access, authors are encouraged to disseminate the Version of Record as widely as possible.<\/p>\n<p>The Version of Record may be deposited immediately in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>institutional repositories;<\/li>\n<li>national and international repositories;<\/li>\n<li>subject repositories;<\/li>\n<li>digital libraries;<\/li>\n<li>university websites;<\/li>\n<li>research information systems;<\/li>\n<li>ORCID profiles; and<\/li>\n<li>other recognised scholarly communication platforms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Authors should preserve the official metadata, DOI, ISBN, licensing information, and bibliographic citation supplied by Rupkatha Books.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13.7 Citation and Attribution<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Whenever any version of a publication is archived or shared, authors are encouraged to include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the complete bibliographic citation;<\/li>\n<li>the Digital Object Identifier (DOI);<\/li>\n<li>the ISBN, where applicable;<\/li>\n<li>the applicable copyright and licence statement; and<\/li>\n<li>a persistent link to the official publication page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These elements ensure that readers can reliably identify, access, and cite the authoritative Version of Record.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13.8 Institutional and Subject Repositories<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rupkatha Books strongly encourages deposit in trusted repositories maintained by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>universities and colleges;<\/li>\n<li>research institutions;<\/li>\n<li>national libraries;<\/li>\n<li>disciplinary organisations;<\/li>\n<li>governmental research agencies;<\/li>\n<li>international repository networks; and<\/li>\n<li>other recognised scholarly preservation services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Repository deposit enhances discoverability, citation, interoperability, and long-term preservation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13.9 Metadata and Persistent Identifiers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Authors should preserve the official publication metadata when depositing their work.<\/p>\n<p>Repository records should, where applicable, include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>DOI;<\/li>\n<li>ISBN;<\/li>\n<li>ORCID identifiers;<\/li>\n<li>author affiliations;<\/li>\n<li>funding information;<\/li>\n<li>licence details;<\/li>\n<li>keywords;<\/li>\n<li>abstracts; and<\/li>\n<li>complete bibliographic citations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Rupkatha Books will continue to adopt internationally recognised metadata standards, including ONIX, semantic metadata, linked data technologies, and other interoperable scholarly frameworks to strengthen global discoverability and machine-readable scholarship.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13.10 Scholarly Profiles and Research Networks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Authors are encouraged to promote their publications through trusted scholarly identity systems and research profiles, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ORCID;<\/li>\n<li>institutional researcher profiles;<\/li>\n<li>university webpages;<\/li>\n<li>academic networking services;<\/li>\n<li>personal scholarly websites; and<\/li>\n<li>digital curricula vitae.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Where possible, authors should share the Version of Record or provide a persistent link to the official publication rather than circulating incomplete or outdated versions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13.11 Long-Term Digital Preservation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Authors are encouraged to deposit their publications in repositories committed to long-term preservation, persistent access, metadata interoperability, and international preservation standards.<\/p>\n<p>Rupkatha Books supports distributed preservation through multiple repositories and trusted digital infrastructures as an important safeguard against technological change and platform dependency.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13.12 Compliance with Institutional and Funder Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rupkatha Books supports repository deposit and Open Access dissemination required by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>universities and research institutions;<\/li>\n<li>research funders;<\/li>\n<li>governmental agencies;<\/li>\n<li>scholarly societies; and<\/li>\n<li>institutional Open Access policies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The publisher will work collaboratively with authors and partner organisations to facilitate compliance with repository, licensing, metadata, and preservation requirements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13.13 Global Knowledge Dissemination<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Self-archiving is more than a retained author right;
